‘A Subtle Dislocation Of The Norm’

Next to the solo careers of Monica Electronica and Josz LeBon, these two Deejays join forces with Eldit (producer) and Sarna (dj/producer) and operate by the name: ‘The Infamous Mudclub’. You will find Monica Electronica and Josz LeBon ‘storming the floor’ at their resident nights in 11 (Amsterdam) and Petrol (Antwerp). Sometimes Eldit or Sarna pops in for a live show.

The name ‘ The Infamous Mudclub’ xa0refers to an important part of dance music history back in the 80ties in New York.
The (infamous) Mudclub was in those days already a gathering of celebs, artists and musicians. A small club where Jean Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol were resident guests and where you could find Brian Eno performing live.

The sound of ‘The Infamous Mudclub’ reminds you of labels such as Z records or bands like Liquid Liquid, ESG and balances between New Wave, Twisted Disco, Electro, Rock and New Beat

There is no deep philosophy behind IMC, just a fine selection of all good music you will be able to find anywhere.

‘Bootsjunge’ is a first born track produced by The Infamous Mudclub and is released onthe 10daysoff vinyl sampler [Play out!]‘Bootsjunge’ was created by Eldit, Josz LeBon and Monica Electronica.

“As fearless as their imagination, the Dutch trio Josz Le Bon, Monica Electronica and Eldit have decided to become somewhat the dirtiest dance producer collective from the Netherlands. Bootjunge is a good start with its sexy arpeggios, fattening bass and washing-your-brain sounds. But the real dirt comes from the ‘Gunther Schneider’ text written by cabaretier Hans Teeuwen for theatre show ‘Industry of Love’…dirtier than the word ‘dirty’…but you’ll love it!”

Dj Sarna

Born and raised in Zxfcrich, Sarna is sure, that if he had not been living
in this City, he wouldn’t be where he is now. Zxfcrich is a City full of music,
ecxellent record-stores and a lot of dance!
There’s a lot of great musicians and producers and even more good DJ’s!
The Quality is high. It has a (not so) small but strong Minimal/Techno/Elektro
Underground-Scene. Since Cities law’s are quite liberal, Partys can go on for
a long time in Zxfcrich. This February, the Goodbye Party of Zxfcrichs most
(in)famous Club ‘Dachkantine’ went on for 5 days!

In ’95, at the age of 19, Sarna almost became a professional snowboarder. But he
changed his mind, totally quit snowboarding and started fondling around with
two turntables. He was into music allready since Sarna Senior bought a highend
Soundsystem to enjoy especially the Sound of ‘Pink Floyd’.
That’s probably, where Sarna’s dreamy and sound-conscious sides come from.
Snowboarding and Skateboarding brought him the Sound of the Beastie Boys,
Pain and Cypress Hill, Black Flag, Rage against the Machine and so on.
In School, he learned how to throw Partys and Events. Sarna took it further and
soon got involved with Straight Ahead Recordings and therefore more with the
musical blends of Jazz, Funk, Afro, Latin and Oriental.
Around the Milleniunm he was part of the Straight Ahead Crew and played many
legendary sets, mixing styles and make people dance like beserk.
As well he threw parties at some spectacular underground venues with his friends
such as Beat Club/Klinik or Brockenbeatz I-V counting around 20’000 people
coming to this two event series. Around this time Sarna made an appereance at
the Drum Rhythm 10 Festival in Amsterdam to, leaving happy faces on every
stage he played. After the Brokenbeatz/Nujazz Market broke down, and the
enthousiasm was gone, Sarna started to discover the shades of Techno, Minimal,
Elektro and later on with Disco, ItaloDisco and Wave.
In 2003 Dachkantine just opened and established itself as being the place for
Minimal and Elektro Artists and Djs. A new Period began. Average Partytime got
expanded by factor 3 at least. There where many Afterhours to play.

‘Straight Ahead, meeting Josz Lebon, reading ‘Last Night a DJ safed my night’ in
2003 and Dachkantine made me the DJ i am today.’
DJ Sarna is – fun, vibe, flow, surprises, melodies, stories, vocals, minimal, maximal,
freestyle*…. dance, *inside minimal/techno/house/acid/detroit/electro/clash/disco/
wave/funk

Together with his friend and partner Remo Clematide, Sarna is running a small
studio, where he spends most of his time to produce music, 3D-vizualizations and
animations. In 2003 Josz Lebon, Monica Electronica, Eldit and Sarna founded ‘Infamous Mudclub’.
Infamous Mudclub Parties take place in Antwerp, Amsterdam, Zxfcrich, London and
are to come in Tel Aviv. As well as Parties, the ‘bunch’ will release records soon!
‘Bootsjunge’ Eldit/Lebon/M.Electr Remix, released on the 12″ Compilation of
‘Ten Days Off’ was acclaimed by the press to be dirty-sch.. !
(check www.infamousmudclub.web-log.nl/)
The Label ‘Infamous Mudclub Records’ is going to be born with a first release this year! A small but fine Label for elektro wave clash stuff.

Sarna also produces ‘MinimalTechno touched Stuff” so you can expect him to be
released on other Record Labels as well in the future…
He has a ‘live’-remix project based on other music, which is going to be in the
showcase by fall of this year. Just imagine using the programm ‘live’ as a dj set up
with 6 turntables, stripping each track to its basic and then create new remixes of
stuff you heard.

Josz Lebon

Ever since his childhood Rotterdam/Antwerp based Josz LeBon has been
wandering around record shops hunting specific tunes. At the age of seventeen
he played his first professional gig. Only a few years later dance floors all over
Holland were shaking to his dynamic DJ sets. Josz LeBon combines different flows
and styles by exploiting the possibilities of mixing. This way he builds bridges
between Electro, NuWave, New Wave, New Beat, Italo, pop, ‘Retro most people
forgot about’ and music that is less easy to name. Think of DJ sets combining the
latest releases of DFA, Gomma, Relish, Les Ritas Mitsoukos…

Because of this non-conventional approach and choice of music
youwill find him on alternative stages as well as in the club circuit.
In the recent past Josz LeBon had residencies in clubs such as
Beach Club ‘Woodstock 69′ on the beach near Amsterdam and
Luna in Antwerp. From September ’03 till July ’04 he and Louis
Katorz organised the already legendary club night ‘La Dernixe8re
Cellule Combattante’ inviting guests like: Headman, Metro Area,
Chicken Lips, Freeform Five, Tom Barman, Alexander Robotnick,
Tiefschwarz, Seelenluft and Whitey. And in the summer of ’05,
Josz LeBon and Monica Electronica ‘stormed the floor’ at their
resident nights in 11 (Amsterdam) and Petrol (Antwerp).
Sometimes Eldit or Sarna poped in for a live show.

Monica Electronica

Emma Elisabet Baas was born on the 29th of march 1978 in Delft, the
Netherlands. Coming from a musical family, both sister and steph-father
drummers, at home everything was about music. When Emma was 18 years
old, she moved to Rotterdam to live and to study at the school of Arts, and
gratuated as an art-director in Advertising in 2000.
During her study she bought 2 old recordplayers, (one without pitch) borrowed
a mixer from a friend and threw parties at home. That’s where her passion
for music and dj-ing grew stronger.

After her study she travelled around the world to dance, she was a part of
‘Aquarella do Brasil’ a brazillian samba showballet from Rotterdam.
After one year of dancing she started working for a filmproduction company.
For two years she free-lanced as an assistant producer and assistant director.

Only from ’02 she became more active as a dj. Every month in Club Stalker in
Haarlem Monica Electronica and Estelle Decibel played as a dj duo by the name:
‘De Nachtzusters’ (‘The Nightnurses’)
In the summer of ’03, Monica Electronica and two of her friends
(one of them Dj Josz Lebon) felt it was time for a residency, so they created
a place of there own.. A new bar was born on the roof of the Van Nelle factory
in Rotterdam and called it: Bar Tabac. They set the tone with a not often heard
sound in the region: ElectroItaloDiscoNewbeatRock..

Her connection with Electronation really took her dj career a few steps further.
She started playing in several famous clubs in Holland: Now&Wow, Off-Corso,
Paradiso, 11, Nighttown, Winkel van Sinkel, and played at Duth festivals:
Awakenings, Lowlands, Noorderslag, FFWD Danceparade and Dance Valley.

Autumn ’04 created the Monica Electronica-buzz internationally and Emma started to travel around the world again but now to spin the weels with gigs in Belgium (Petrol, 10daysoff, Groovecity, Culture club) Germany (Berlin, Ingolstadt) Luxembourg, England (Leeds), Switzerland (Zurich, Scuol), China (Shanghai), Canada (Vancouver), Seattle (USA) and in june ’05 she made her first tour through Russia for 5 weeks, and traveld from Moscow to Siberia.
End of 2005, Emma was selected with 29 other talented musicians, producers and dj’s from all over the world to join the Redbull Music Academy in Seattle. This was a live-time experience and a learning period where Emma had the chance to upgrade her dj and producing skills.

‘Monica Electronica has an opinionated way of selecting and playing her music, her sets are electric with energy and vibe swinging thru Electronic genres to create a perfect dancefloor atmosphere full of gutsy basslines and underbelly beats!’

ELDIT

Eldit is the artistic name of Arjan Timmermans who has worked as a sound designer since 2000. He has done assignments for companies such as Volkswagen, Result DDB and the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam (for which he was awarded by I-D Magazine with an “Interactive Media Design Review”).

After years of commercial experience it was time to show some of his own stuff, with his first performance in September 2004 and the release of the ‘Strobo Light EP’ with DJ Lava as a result. Since then, things moved quite quickly as he performed at Amsterdam’s hottest spots. Among them are Paradiso, UNK, Club 11 and Melkweg. Gigs in Belgium and Switzerland followed soon afterwards. Together with Josz LeBon and Monica Electronica, he produced ‘Bootsjunge’ which was released as a vinyl sampler for the ’10daysoff’ dance festival and created a buzz on Dutch national radio.

The music of Eldit could be described as a mix of house, electro and rock. Artists such as Prince, Richie Hawtin, Primal Scream and Grace Jones formed him as an artist and have a big influence on his music. Current acts he appreciates are: Jamie Lidell, M.I.A. and Soulwax.
